What is Liposuction?
Liposuction is the surgical removal of unwanted fat tissues in the body. This aesthetic intervention, also known as liposuction, eliminates stubborn fat deposits that cannot be removed by diet and exercise. Liposuction, one of the most popular aesthetic operations in modern medicine, offers an effective solution to remove excess fat, especially in the abdomen, hips, buttocks and leg areas. This procedure is a safe and permanent method preferred for body contouring.
Liposuction Surgery
Liposuction surgery is the process of removing resistant fat tissues in the body by vacuuming them with the help of special cannulas. This modern aesthetic procedure offers a permanent solution to regional adiposity problems that cannot be solved with traditional diet and exercise methods.
During the procedure, the surgeon makes small incisions and infiltrates a specially prepared liquid into the liposuction area. The purpose of this liquid is to reduce bleeding and postoperative pain sensation. Then, with the help of cannulas connected to a special device that makes vacuum, the fat cells in the target area are broken down and taken out of the body with the help of vacuum. After the procedure is completed, the operation is terminated by placing a drain in the liposuction area. If technologies such as ultrasound or laser are to be used, these are performed before classical liposuction. This method, which can be successfully applied especially in the abdomen, waist, hip, thigh and arm areas:
- Performed under local or general anesthesia
- Takes 2-3 hours on average (Duration may be longer depending on the number of regions)
- Depending on the size of the procedure, it can be performed on a daily basis or may require hospitalization for 2 days.
- Leaves minimal traces
- Provides reshaping of body contours
- Blood transfusion may be required in major liposuction surgeries.
Liposuction is often combined with other body aesthetic surgeries, especially tummy tuck. In tummy tuck, it is used for advanced shaping on the waist and side of the abdomen, while in breast reduction surgery, it can be added to the surgery to remove excess fat on the sides of the breast and armpit area.
