What is Calf Prosthesis?
Calf (leg) prosthesis is an aesthetic solution applied to correct congenital or acquired deformities, especially in the lower leg region. With the development of modern medicine, this method, which is preferred to eliminate problems such as insufficient development of the calf muscles or asymmetrical appearance, is performed using silicone implants. Calf prosthesis application, which provides natural-looking results, offers a safe aesthetic surgery option for both male and female patients.
Calf (Leg) Prosthesis Surgery
Calf (leg) prosthesis surgery is a surgical procedure in which silicone implants are inserted into the leg area to give it a muscular shape and a more aesthetic appearance. The operation is performed through a small incision in the knee area, usually behind the calf muscle. The procedure is performed under spinal, epidural or general anesthesia and takes 0.5-1 hour on average.
Surgery process:
- First of all, the prosthesis size suitable for the patient's calf structure is determined
- A small incision is made behind the knee under sterile conditions
- Special surgical techniques are used to create a pocket under the muscle fascia
- Silicone prosthesis is placed and the wound is closed with sutures
- Bandage and special socks are applied after the procedure
